/// a violent dichotomy /// I love you <
My song "I love you" releases on the 28th of July. "I Love You "is a song about learning to appreciate a relationship for what it is in the moment rather than for what it can become, whether that be a friendship or a romantic relationship. You never know when someone might be taken away from you or when you might grow apart. Life is fragile, beauty is volatile, and life has value precisely because it is transient and impermanent.
If we can learn to embrace mono-no-aware (the bittersweet realization of the ephemeral nature of all things) then even our darkest moments can have meaning, and we won't fail to recognize the most beautiful moments of life when they are right in front of us. Everything comes from nothing and returns to nothing and things are most beautiful when captured between the precipice of life and death.
When I wrote this song I was the happiest I'd ever been. I was madly in love and my thoughts were so clear and concise. It was the first time I'd found balance in my life. I was making my best art. When I started to explore my feelings I was overwhelmed with a sense nostalgia but didn't know why. It wasn't long before I'd realized that this wasn't the first euphoric chapter of my life. There have been many periods just like this one, and they'd also arisen from a miserable lull. I wanted to capture my happiness in a song and create something I could listen to in the future to remind me how happy I felt. I knew the moment was fleeting, and in retrospect, the song fulfilled its prophecy. "I Love You" has become a way for me to appreciate an amazing part of my life and find beauty in its impermanence. I am so excited to share it with you.
